This time the theme is Give it a Whirl. Oh what fun to check out lots of patterns and ideas. I knew I wanted something springy and had collected fabrics last year for such a project and they were still sitting there waiting for me. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgs4gUXSc3VeaCPmyyywF1YmcPgnr3BkVfUIjlhg8oUBvOatAjxmBOo9fCCMfZlpeP7NA2o429HUVCprkd4yHhbVRsEa54HhdkHmcnbMhEPnl2YC59EAu2CUdrN6NBKZz_7uwhtdTMfCMjfc5MgLdvLWsvRbOuMA1t2gT-ff37dIksDcNkvtSdw835IeA/s300/Mar%20-%20Give%20It%20A%20Whirl%20Logo.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="300" data-original-width="300" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgs4gUXSc3VeaCPmyyywF1YmcPgnr3BkVfUIjlhg8oUBvOatAjxmBOo9fCCMfZlpeP7NA2o429HUVCprkd4yHhbVRsEa54HhdkHmcnbMhEPnl2YC59EAu2CUdrN6NBKZz_7uwhtdTMfCMjfc5MgLdvLWsvRbOuMA1t2gT-ff37dIksDcNkvtSdw835IeA/s1600/Mar%20-%20Give%20It%20A%20Whirl%20Logo.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Carol at Just let Me Quilt is sponsoring this hop and I hope you find fun and wonderful ideas.</div><br /><p><br /></p><p>But what design to choose? Half square triangles, dresden plates, dear me. Love another opportunity to rummage in my stash for something fun. </p><p>These are the 5 pattern cards we were given to choose from. And I was excited to choose. ( And like kids in a candy store, I wanted to do them ALL.) </p><p style="text-align: center;"><img height="366" src="https://lh7-us.googleusercontent.com/Y3St-tgHnprZ3vvj338ZYEnMcWMVB5YoNlh9XtB8YFKVRwI5gNr_wN-Cd4-vE_J5PpgGTJnzeWhLdC0hkTPh_RoPR6IU7KJ5o8ImU8R0qh7cWkTCjcE6vwz80iJjk5A4Cmu9AMBd3dy8bnH1lhpSMA=w356-h366" style="margin-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px;" width="356" /></p><p>And rummage around I did to find something for me and something to give. </p><p>First off, being as it was last month, a couple of Valentine charm packs were found to make this great pattern for a table runner. These were Flirtations designed by Sandy Gervais many years ago. The colors remind me of strawberries and chocolate: great combinations. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXVCdxgg-iVIOY9ObrPf4tmzo1rRUGMcD1eZBnfGf-pLTsj888rMYRBfGDHsFlwY-oyIMZMBgmCTouQZGTqVA11htFzKxOVWyUNnfqef5DY9LBLu0aUcTiMIXyWu8xekrdSeCGeIwnodRpJ1s5Xf6ZwBNUvIqlOYGR1mLHgdV4oYQ8HGAEtTNzAmEMSQ/s3991/valentine%20charm%20pack.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3991" data-original-width="1908" height="454" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXVCdxgg-iVIOY9ObrPf4tmzo1rRUGMcD1eZBnfGf-pLTsj888rMYRBfGDHsFlwY-oyIMZMBgmCTouQZGTqVA11htFzKxOVWyUNnfqef5DY9LBLu0aUcTiMIXyWu8xekrdSeCGeIwnodRpJ1s5Xf6ZwBNUvIqlOYGR1mLHgdV4oYQ8HGAEtTNzAmEMSQ/w217-h454/valentine%20charm%20pack.jpg" width="217" /></a></div><p>It was great to arrange patterns and colors balancing them just right. And I did it a few times to create the length I needed for a table runner to fit my table. I added a brown inch strip for making the flange to frame the blocks. Lastly a contrasting red border and brown binding finished up the top. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9WuDCIa9l5IQq4SRkG5btF-wNPQFEwgwkuFUeQGJM1IQwkDwoeLAoN_3I_om86GTH3FO8juFE4sFx0JKLsjKHsnNIVKibb9tcF4soRYvaxAA8-TPEPpWBi98-413tFJPaw-KKXBdWqCY4_hMKQcD2xwvZFuWVnD4Ir_9111nBg5tHRA4CDNV2TSb7-w/s4000/valentine%20charm%203.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1620" data-original-width="4000" height="244" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9WuDCIa9l5IQq4SRkG5btF-wNPQFEwgwkuFUeQGJM1IQwkDwoeLAoN_3I_om86GTH3FO8juFE4sFx0JKLsjKHsnNIVKibb9tcF4soRYvaxAA8-TPEPpWBi98-413tFJPaw-KKXBdWqCY4_hMKQcD2xwvZFuWVnD4Ir_9111nBg5tHRA4CDNV2TSb7-w/w603-h244/valentine%20charm%203.jpg" width="603" /></a></div><p>As it was a geometric and simple design, I just quilted it by stitching in the ditch. Yeah! fabrics that needed to be used for a holiday! Bright boy colors and designs just ready for another boy! For the past year, I have been merrily sewing all these pieces to make my 9 patch WONDER! It has been fun to have it on the side, idly making little 3 inch 9 patch blocks. Then I would assemble the bigger 9 patch blocks, followed by sashing one row at a time. Sometimes it was just the best project to not have to think about as you assembled groups of 9 patches. </p><p> I want to thank Gretchen Weaver for her inspiring quilt which spurred me on. <a href="https://gretchenslittlecorner.blogspot.com/2023/01/9-patch-beauty-flimsy-finish.html">Here</a> is her quilt. The original pattern was in American Patchwork and Quilting which I did find in my stacks of magazines. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1iwDxQio7O1p4YQcGFU4VipCnk6aexYXKkevaI8YIpct1mJBKKd4y7HTcEc80bgAhm4RIx57RMIBnl41a5BLIwy-rrqw7_GWngOrlyx13dCitPtXaUt7OztKzZjDHFxGdCOxf0Wie73-tRjV1X5BcTsk_s6ryKWTHpSRczyYewVMS9X9HsMCX94lRVQ/s3157/9%20patch%20wonderf%20c.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3157" data-original-width="3000" height="487" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1iwDxQio7O1p4YQcGFU4VipCnk6aexYXKkevaI8YIpct1mJBKKd4y7HTcEc80bgAhm4RIx57RMIBnl41a5BLIwy-rrqw7_GWngOrlyx13dCitPtXaUt7OztKzZjDHFxGdCOxf0Wie73-tRjV1X5BcTsk_s6ryKWTHpSRczyYewVMS9X9HsMCX94lRVQ/w463-h487/9%20patch%20wonderf%20c.jpg" width="463" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">( Notice the photo is taken outside! Yeah to warm weather.)</div><p>And for this beauty, I only had to purchase the blue solid fabric, the red border fabric and the backing fabric. All the little pieces were from my stash cut from the variety of colors; I used as much as I could from my scrap container. But alas, they seem to have multiplied again. And even though I used up a wealth of backgrounds, I still have many pieces left. </p><p>History of the quilt began <a href="https://www.blogger.com/blog/post/edit/5547335777911858127/4728233543706062666">here</a>. Not that the vacation to Hawaii wasn't wonderful and I missed quilting while I was there, but sitting at the machine is fun and I so enjoy it. </p><p>So here are some projects I have been working on: </p><p>Stash Bee: for those who don't know, it is a group of women who sew for each other once a month. Every month, I new person decides the design or block and colorway. This month is a Terry Rowland block designed to use up scraps. Here is a video of how she makes the blocks for the colorwash quilt: <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2UQE5SlOLqg">here</a>. it was also made by Kate of The Last Homely House in England. Here is her instructions: <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkPEchkhhQ0">scraps</a>. Each block within the block is 3 inches finished making the 9 patch 9 inches.</p><p>Anyway, our queen bee of the month wanted a block of 9 individual blocks together in a colorway. We only are asked to make one block. But I love sharing with others so much, that I always make extra. 10 blocks does not a quilt make. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjs1ulcrm5QUw382aO02JpavE4vuYLEJOZ527u64c358GyRWoWtIvsFzSg4M4uzbnRaI2SqeAdvPoVMm2AbJecqb7kiMDXJbN9CnxS2osflfnqm2IFAnP1GTgbPto4AYfFcFHgH1MW3fvxnxsWmKRgDYDBvBkxZKirDiVyL99X3jrPccZ6YObShrPYx0A/s2998/stash%20bee%203a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2607" data-original-width="2998" height="303" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjs1ulcrm5QUw382aO02JpavE4vuYLEJOZ527u64c358GyRWoWtIvsFzSg4M4uzbnRaI2SqeAdvPoVMm2AbJecqb7kiMDXJbN9CnxS2osflfnqm2IFAnP1GTgbPto4AYfFcFHgH1MW3fvxnxsWmKRgDYDBvBkxZKirDiVyL99X3jrPccZ6YObShrPYx0A/w349-h303/stash%20bee%203a.jpg" width="349" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtK9CxQsjHR0OY9d1O6lJrVvGtLMT6LAyXHzr9QzwB8SsEjXht251-OCcNGzs6ajnGW961uVEvAC9zrvrcSOXzWJyqVaBtAN-7YnNqcqOx4jglAu5Lx8vWJxGcIvE7ACN9Qa4NNPkqmGn9z4O1omR8SExRKRjbr3hmbbe2D53rJZ6HFSvk9EKxGrop2A/s2809/stashbee%203b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2693" data-original-width="2809" height="336" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtK9CxQsjHR0OY9d1O6lJrVvGtLMT6LAyXHzr9QzwB8SsEjXht251-OCcNGzs6ajnGW961uVEvAC9zrvrcSOXzWJyqVaBtAN-7YnNqcqOx4jglAu5Lx8vWJxGcIvE7ACN9Qa4NNPkqmGn9z4O1omR8SExRKRjbr3hmbbe2D53rJZ6HFSvk9EKxGrop2A/w351-h336/stashbee%203b.jpg" width="351" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="text-align: left;"><br /></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="text-align: left;">And I got out my Dear Jane box and forged on for more blocks: </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdO76qD2vQh_HLOYHpn2zb1Eo4g_YuvIt3DOJ-lSWshSEe17eIW17s2YeGGePrxnanV15INrO91phz-ODWN9AMC8hSLdKwqrMTY-WCQTgf5XlHrs0x2kZDA5Zsj-HmZF2EezBtCHUqvFOwJWBXBobwZAC9wUt9kmGVIFR-bVkEC1RVXbxaJ94Mf3KgeQ/s3002/dear%20jane%20A3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3002" data-original-width="2922" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdO76qD2vQh_HLOYHpn2zb1Eo4g_YuvIt3DOJ-lSWshSEe17eIW17s2YeGGePrxnanV15INrO91phz-ODWN9AMC8hSLdKwqrMTY-WCQTgf5XlHrs0x2kZDA5Zsj-HmZF2EezBtCHUqvFOwJWBXBobwZAC9wUt9kmGVIFR-bVkEC1RVXbxaJ94Mf3KgeQ/s320/dear%20jane%20A3.jpg" width="311" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPMPPdRXNj_7ti-ecuRUoXZXCmwK_dPmoKKubOIQyZL14GMvA2sNIVUh4w7fmS6VQhavRT7w0R5DcBXkHk0gasoxF0QnJOYFC7-UG2jRRxiiIiMbNoNB5Pqc9Q1IZEkTnMZ0o7p4i8rVEUZRU63L_oFNqMN4oE5IFkHDCrUiWB9WKfeRZjfOwGla3yBg/s2829/dear%20jane%20A2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2829" data-original-width="2815" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPMPPdRXNj_7ti-ecuRUoXZXCmwK_dPmoKKubOIQyZL14GMvA2sNIVUh4w7fmS6VQhavRT7w0R5DcBXkHk0gasoxF0QnJOYFC7-UG2jRRxiiIiMbNoNB5Pqc9Q1IZEkTnMZ0o7p4i8rVEUZRU63L_oFNqMN4oE5IFkHDCrUiWB9WKfeRZjfOwGla3yBg/s320/dear%20jane%20A2.jpg" width="318" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSqcd1fRewje5nL34lua1ApRXI8XXfcpaf_CmlfVtk99kuSRqLKYyG4e8hSK0zrSElRWkVFZkttBSFYkWn0jshT0DGwyrH-hl3pRBvqYe1dS15ajBcIk4H0u9etfqMNFQ7LJkRdG_VbNo63l4P9yhO_JMrYum5mZ_t0OdmFi-tOnsRShnbYMAg5XdSpA/s2301/dear%20jane%20A1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2301" data-original-width="2212" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSqcd1fRewje5nL34lua1ApRXI8XXfcpaf_CmlfVtk99kuSRqLKYyG4e8hSK0zrSElRWkVFZkttBSFYkWn0jshT0DGwyrH-hl3pRBvqYe1dS15ajBcIk4H0u9etfqMNFQ7LJkRdG_VbNo63l4P9yhO_JMrYum5mZ_t0OdmFi-tOnsRShnbYMAg5XdSpA/s320/dear%20jane%20A1.jpg" width="308" /></a></div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">These are 5 inch blocks and the last one needs hand applique. And the water itself had the most amazing hues of blue. Such an array of colors surrounded us all week starting with a rainbow to greet us at the airport after we flew for all of the day across the continent and sea. </p><p>My body still has the feel of sea movement as I sit here. The repeated sway of the waves up and down in my blood. I love it! I have always loved water and now I witnessed new rushes of the ocean on a far larger scale than the lakes I have always been on. And then to taste the salt in the fluid around you and feel it after it dries on your skin. God truly does amazing things.</p><p>And as a quilter, I was able to locate one quilt store on the city of Kona on Hawaii called Quilt Passions and bring home some wonderful treasures. They were in the process of getting ready to move to a new location. The owner was so friendly and helpful. </p><p>I did not get to peruse the store for very long as I had an uber driver waiting. You can easily find it as a free one on Bernina <a href="https://weallsew.com/shamrock-table-runner/">here</a>. It is on a 10 1/2 inch square background.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEir87-2gYYXC8XBFShaGkJAjWq0DK9OoLT7dC6PVc8wygtjgFfUUY8nM4mYseA1cY63qsY1LwHF8J-JbS8fVsubz9bhhIYZlWE94TJ6exVk0DWRxSB-dKvyVREPbDHHYHfuzIsvEwCF9-2OwxXAvMy4YhSwviOl74jmR6ocbF_XjW9fO69mJK3ZV0nt7g/s3416/shamrock%20block%2010%20inches.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3416" data-original-width="2975" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEir87-2gYYXC8XBFShaGkJAjWq0DK9OoLT7dC6PVc8wygtjgFfUUY8nM4mYseA1cY63qsY1LwHF8J-JbS8fVsubz9bhhIYZlWE94TJ6exVk0DWRxSB-dKvyVREPbDHHYHfuzIsvEwCF9-2OwxXAvMy4YhSwviOl74jmR6ocbF_XjW9fO69mJK3ZV0nt7g/s320/shamrock%20block%2010%20inches.jpg" width="279" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p>It was fun to use up lots of green scraps. I showed it to my daughter and she liked it. So I made a door hanger for her and a second one for my mom at the nursing home. I even had some shamrock fabric for the back of both. I did it with a friend and we met weekly to sew together and share fabrics most French General. All the snowmen were appliqued in wool by hand. And all the other details were appliqued in cotton by machine in a blanket stitch. </p><p>I finished the top and the back in October and sent it off to be longarmed. And I collected it in January. </p><p>There have been countless hours attaching the binding and the rod pocket. And then all the eyes needed buttons and other small details. </p><p>Lastly I have been quilting the large applique designs. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXJ6W3GI2o78YKJ8dfjCVYEr0natxBPzXbeko3NT7p-jiQTfPURAUEAH82okqf-mWJeG6dOuW73VyPJeqqczi9xmip_5jTpoSOZpdCqK6K70oLPIH7L0rbwZVX4Op7Zg32J2WRd5AILRYb3YTDsxwpQLC_TEDPwPF74q0GoQroF0qytFiVZuB7sgkkxw/s3804/snow1.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2853" data-original-width="3804" height="276" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXJ6W3GI2o78YKJ8dfjCVYEr0natxBPzXbeko3NT7p-jiQTfPURAUEAH82okqf-mWJeG6dOuW73VyPJeqqczi9xmip_5jTpoSOZpdCqK6K70oLPIH7L0rbwZVX4Op7Zg32J2WRd5AILRYb3YTDsxwpQLC_TEDPwPF74q0GoQroF0qytFiVZuB7sgkkxw/w368-h276/snow1.jpg" width="368" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-OUq-js46yC9Cr1j7og5pUgMYoy3VUhJoA8NS1ZERI6PEpqDOCMFwUi86_sfKe9pZPoKqPZYEKoO3XiuTnXwgjLJx66hboOv8xL7LKRgSGnMFW-WTAbiLestK3ydTRn9bY_h34_D087OUObhog2UuD_Pnt_e81UmUvT836BU60KWJoNOvuApHVUg4Ow/s3505/snow2.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3505" data-original-width="2336" height="405" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-OUq-js46yC9Cr1j7og5pUgMYoy3VUhJoA8NS1ZERI6PEpqDOCMFwUi86_sfKe9pZPoKqPZYEKoO3XiuTnXwgjLJx66hboOv8xL7LKRgSGnMFW-WTAbiLestK3ydTRn9bY_h34_D087OUObhog2UuD_Pnt_e81UmUvT836BU60KWJoNOvuApHVUg4Ow/w269-h405/snow2.jpg" width="269" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhl_ICbqBFyfM5p239tCl02sk_VO6eh3dHXMxTLgGHXfELSB4Rrz21Gg2jjlK9LpdWPzdp83y-tfK9uCi38HzA_YjdMrbJSG74f8xCVyTg6O8vdWceUpUQraH45Wyy05OoVRPJINTScicCwkZrke77Xm1t7e6ouCI_Qxy61bD4ZnFoe1j6n_z9vmjVJiQ/s3647/snow3.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2765" data-original-width="3647" height="270" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhl_ICbqBFyfM5p239tCl02sk_VO6eh3dHXMxTLgGHXfELSB4Rrz21Gg2jjlK9LpdWPzdp83y-tfK9uCi38HzA_YjdMrbJSG74f8xCVyTg6O8vdWceUpUQraH45Wyy05OoVRPJINTScicCwkZrke77Xm1t7e6ouCI_Qxy61bD4ZnFoe1j6n_z9vmjVJiQ/w355-h270/snow3.jpg" width="355" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_nZvqAN6k252abK8IyooM-kxgdgu_5uCexWyavVZITZ3BhVzbSF_B0HuuHb-fTGNEbbtgSpwzlXe1EKdv6HdOFXnQZjYkLaaHNNF1IJIz1O-LEQFo9Rne2M0bmumCGF-1Bxjywkui6YeBg1YBacxJR5juJ4MkOVw9lyqA-eOBiAj4NE47vz7V8fMi8w/s3221/snow4.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3221" data-original-width="2804" height="350" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_nZvqAN6k252abK8IyooM-kxgdgu_5uCexWyavVZITZ3BhVzbSF_B0HuuHb-fTGNEbbtgSpwzlXe1EKdv6HdOFXnQZjYkLaaHNNF1IJIz1O-LEQFo9Rne2M0bmumCGF-1Bxjywkui6YeBg1YBacxJR5juJ4MkOVw9lyqA-eOBiAj4NE47vz7V8fMi8w/w305-h350/snow4.jpg" width="305" /></a></div><p>AND for the big finish: Hooray for me!!!!!!! </p><p>Completed size 62 by 66 (Photo a little yellowy )</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFtfTO8eKvfKU2mzbnkJ7qpxB_zCyTEopJLq9NnE3u1aBkzegqJCcdDIz5LxhFb4gMivJCfBmsFojvTTKuHlogkWzdcGJOdXjM99wZHZA8KzTRfpfTWqG8jHSKbz-5lfQZiqOKjTOJGw0-BhhTPri7qa8MK2iHN3RoWICnd91-YRyF4WU5gu8zxyZ80g/s3012/complete%20snowmen.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3012" data-original-width="2867" height="373" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFtfTO8eKvfKU2mzbnkJ7qpxB_zCyTEopJLq9NnE3u1aBkzegqJCcdDIz5LxhFb4gMivJCfBmsFojvTTKuHlogkWzdcGJOdXjM99wZHZA8KzTRfpfTWqG8jHSKbz-5lfQZiqOKjTOJGw0-BhhTPri7qa8MK2iHN3RoWICnd91-YRyF4WU5gu8zxyZ80g/w355-h373/complete%20snowmen.jpg" width="355" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p>time4stitchnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06722346302931004848noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5547335777911858127.post-46344506951375601212024-02-11T09:50:00.001-06:002024-02-11T10:02:24.871-06:00First Quilt Show of the Season<p> Yesterday I had the great pleasure of going to a quilt show in the Washington County Fairgrounds of Wisconsin. It was a little windy blowing the coldness, but so worth it! I always love the inspiration and seeing all the quilters come out of the woodwork to get inspired. So many goodies to shop as well. </p><p>The quilts also were just so amazing as well. </p><p>Size of these houses were just SOOOO small. Love the arrangement and all the colors. </p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjH-suzzdeg0TxoYc9pxEep64yJ31ji2mobVjSBnc7WM7gobvgHt40lXoE_11bnxL1t3EDTX4RruGp6fZFRHhF5CVfqWdV9oNd9sr_Y1XghU5IlJTPIgDUMhDEWD0kHYgUKQttmDl7B-rc1A4KB7I08hAHtlhfAKVqdKYjE6TFaBTae3V4MPhab9ZiKhg/s3723/tiny%20tiny%20houses.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2445" data-original-width="3723" height="277" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjH-suzzdeg0TxoYc9pxEep64yJ31ji2mobVjSBnc7WM7gobvgHt40lXoE_11bnxL1t3EDTX4RruGp6fZFRHhF5CVfqWdV9oNd9sr_Y1XghU5IlJTPIgDUMhDEWD0kHYgUKQttmDl7B-rc1A4KB7I08hAHtlhfAKVqdKYjE6TFaBTae3V4MPhab9ZiKhg/w422-h277/tiny%20tiny%20houses.jpg" width="422" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This one just blew me away with the amazing free piecing and lovely small detail quilting and this just shows that the back is ALSO pieced. Yards and yards of bindings, as will as all those other kinds of finishing details. ( And I haven't even started any new things other than the Valentines for my Mom and sister. This despite the goals I had set for the beginning of the new year.) </p><p>I found this linky party online on Instagram. And as it represents what I am already doing, it is so easy to be a part of it and to continue my finishing roll. <br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; I have an almost finished project that I have been working on for many years. It has had several spurts and lots of sputters. </p><p>I have this pattern from a very old book from Primitive Gatherings when it was at different location. They had 3 seasonal books Christmas, Spring and my favorite fall. I have actually made at least 3 different patterns from this book and some of them multiples of the same project. Copyright 2009.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZGRRouLtlHulD045BKMpJ9Udll1gv0Q60Ueol18efZS0c2Ha4iUAoYq0qL9SNHHjF0annaRETnoxNVjGh_Fw3Rd4DBeyrbEdMGCTSYjjH3ydSVsKZ9x1IoUrZh7V8Qvjr4SYFhGmOuojAC_1qpjhBXkcDsYt3HGEdVNyGMDOaeF-li-nslGl4-d1mYA/s3620/Primitive%20Fall%20book.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3620" data-original-width="2848" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZGRRouLtlHulD045BKMpJ9Udll1gv0Q60Ueol18efZS0c2Ha4iUAoYq0qL9SNHHjF0annaRETnoxNVjGh_Fw3Rd4DBeyrbEdMGCTSYjjH3ydSVsKZ9x1IoUrZh7V8Qvjr4SYFhGmOuojAC_1qpjhBXkcDsYt3HGEdVNyGMDOaeF-li-nslGl4-d1mYA/s320/Primitive%20Fall%20book.jpg" width="252" /></a></div><p> I love fall: the colors, the leaves, and the feel of the golden sun. Oh, caramel apples and apple cider are awesome, too. </p><p>The first hurdle was piecing these tiny half square triangles. I made a variety of fall colors. I don't even know what technique I used. Remember this is long before triangle paper. </p><p>The next step was to assemble the trees. Another delay. Long break of time when I couldn't even find the book and got a copy of the pattern from the store at its previous location. And then I needed to assemble the setting triangles, with the border of more half square triangles. Again not an easy task. </p><p>And as I was looking through my stash of book, lo and behold the book was found. The difference is not having a flat spine, Then I added the setting triangles and borders on a retreat and I was so happy. </p><p>Little trees October 2022</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5yu1kTCcVdQO2JSvO7E3R03LjL3lLIsf50wJDvu9Kk_xTLNeUJK8GgayBENEhCNtFNjOc_Ou-fBBwKBx_w4LvtI3VcX_h0aN8yBGElkdMswgB5EK0agUb87IhUJRBUgbBS5eg_UcZ1nUVZYQobEBkTu7yz5IJHXmRQ9zjyinj6q28A9njUrJS1ov2rg/s3056/Trees%202022.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3056" data-original-width="2444" height="381" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5yu1kTCcVdQO2JSvO7E3R03LjL3lLIsf50wJDvu9Kk_xTLNeUJK8GgayBENEhCNtFNjOc_Ou-fBBwKBx_w4LvtI3VcX_h0aN8yBGElkdMswgB5EK0agUb87IhUJRBUgbBS5eg_UcZ1nUVZYQobEBkTu7yz5IJHXmRQ9zjyinj6q28A9njUrJS1ov2rg/w305-h381/Trees%202022.jpg" width="305" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p>I started quilting in the ditch which was easy with invisible thread. And I decided to free motion feather the outer border. I ran out of thread. Ughhh. Alas, a different day, another stab at the feathers. If you are willing to attempt them, there are several videos on YouTube. <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-O0GOZ4O86s">Free motion feathers 4 ways</a> , Angela Walters instruction: <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BmuOTrW9DIQ">More free motion feathers with suggestions</a> I watched them over and over. And I also drew them on paper page after page to get the muscle memory and that helped tremendously. </p><p>So I asked for advice on what to do in the the setting triangles and squares. It was suggested to do the feathers in the round/ circle. I spent lots of time researching and practicing. Here is a site I really felt helped a lot: <a href="https://ipatchandquilt.wordpress.com/2014/08/16/feather-wreath-tutorial/">Feathers in a wreath</a></p><p>And yesterday, I spent all of this afternoon getting it accomplished. Several frogged attempts and remarking. But DONE! </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPRlTgLcBpPfFyGTa5G9vCqHSNJit3nr5zjuyV7FpD-HdtvUdzcOCD3YnUvgb4XXnO_uvXPUdarJypgd1mLJJ0SG5lxRVH5JA0tERfP9xU4tmuMyXaDGZ9tvIpPUqKsVVUr2fyel3lKvrHzJYTHlsAbcNPjL7jSEXgKLh3oD2G0U6axHZGYX3jknBNSg/s3385/little%20trees.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3385" data-original-width="2708" height="443" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPRlTgLcBpPfFyGTa5G9vCqHSNJit3nr5zjuyV7FpD-HdtvUdzcOCD3YnUvgb4XXnO_uvXPUdarJypgd1mLJJ0SG5lxRVH5JA0tERfP9xU4tmuMyXaDGZ9tvIpPUqKsVVUr2fyel3lKvrHzJYTHlsAbcNPjL7jSEXgKLh3oD2G0U6axHZGYX3jknBNSg/w354-h443/little%20trees.jpg" width="354" /></a></div><div><br /></div>Then I trimmed the outer edges and attached the binding and rod pocket. Now for the final hand stitching.<br /><p>I can't tell you how this has sat beside me for months, waiting to be finished. It is such a joy to have the hard work out of the way. </p><p>I really don't know how many years this has been hanging around, and luckily I did keep the pieces and the main fabrics together. </p>time4stitchnhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06722346302931004848noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5547335777911858127.post-65690337995068560832024-01-31T09:58:00.001-06:002024-02-01T11:15:27.732-06:00Lots more binding and UFOs<p> I spent half of one football game and all of the second NFL division playoffs putting on the binding of my snowmen quilt...plus one side of the rod pocket. </p><p>I have yet to add all the eyes and some embroidery details. I have discovered it will need some machine quilting in the large motifs. It shouldn't be too hard.</p><p>Additionally I have layered 50 inch wall hanging to quilt. I needed to do it, before we begin cat sitting for my daughter. This is a UFO from 2 years ago. It was a Stay at Home Round Robin challenge by Quilting Gail and a number of other ladies. I am debating putting small dresden fans in the corners. HMMMM? Suggestions??</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPFdlBcUd94Oh_By0AfklHlWNSFMG7XA0IZH09meGMrDBpOvCFNopZc4bVw4Wou2wBfvpWhDKSeACMZ3kSsV-xfgYCH15mOFZJzqHLjKk6ZMvJgktaRAxVEyyPMalVhJtune-kV8mympMBhNqgiSi3otg29ZFVp2QyvEBcy1SP9lNi2xCz3bN6JCwPjw/s3024/20220217_094958%20(2).jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3013" data-original-width="3024" height="371" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPFdlBcUd94Oh_By0AfklHlWNSFMG7XA0IZH09meGMrDBpOvCFNopZc4bVw4Wou2wBfvpWhDKSeACMZ3kSsV-xfgYCH15mOFZJzqHLjKk6ZMvJgktaRAxVEyyPMalVhJtune-kV8mympMBhNqgiSi3otg29ZFVp2QyvEBcy1SP9lNi2xCz3bN6JCwPjw/w372-h371/20220217_094958%20(2).jpg" width="372" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">And then as Valentines Day is approaching, I recalled another UFO sitting on my pile. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">So I pulled it out to see where it stands. It was the least thing I could do from a distance using my skills. I have made so many things over the years for her. I have done 3 mini wall hangings already: her birthday cake, a Christmas tree and then an embroidered snowman with wording for January.</p><p>So now I have finished a cute Valentine one and made a spare for my sister who lives close to Mom. I thought I would do something for her since she does so much for Mom. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNIm5wgtokFc84TF11cIqIvKVWiiZy9wvZtKPxh3Zs6WkPW9rPM5zMt2EX8tbu5sGUyYgeozW063a6ymAKQ7g1-CdGvKCZKruiKD1zp4n5q4LQYrXJo3BAUHHOS3vDMOcPj-iWaAmYVekeuzTlv4uSU28TFkeNcM8vhqQdpdJ8V7LcTCed4ry-j2W7Fw/s3223/apq%20mag.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3223" data-original-width="2535" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNIm5wgtokFc84TF11cIqIvKVWiiZy9wvZtKPxh3Zs6WkPW9rPM5zMt2EX8tbu5sGUyYgeozW063a6ymAKQ7g1-CdGvKCZKruiKD1zp4n5q4LQYrXJo3BAUHHOS3vDMOcPj-iWaAmYVekeuzTlv4uSU28TFkeNcM8vhqQdpdJ8V7LcTCed4ry-j2W7Fw/s320/apq%20mag.jpg" width="252" /></a></div><p>The newest edition of American Patchwork and Quilting magazine had a pattern for one. I felt it was perfect for this situation but reduced the blocks from 3 inch to 2 inch making my wall hanging 16 inches square. I had a good time digging through my assorted reds and white prints with red to make it. </p><p>Here was the webbing of rows:</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLJB9F1s71ymB2nYDrqkXQ8XfyGZKSRgTp7siHUcgMDjGXkZ6aVAvq7QwwsJxJAbRRUhEUO-1u9KsMFdduuFRzj0hnfzw35z7iujVQMvhAAJrzRONmVWgTKkMtBZKe6HvS6zFVZKbr2sCBWXPdX_hNzYYfDzlsRD1WOm2xI5ilQIMJ7mRJC2ESPO3u1A/s3172/valentine%20webbing.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3172" data-original-width="3000" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLJB9F1s71ymB2nYDrqkXQ8XfyGZKSRgTp7siHUcgMDjGXkZ6aVAvq7QwwsJxJAbRRUhEUO-1u9KsMFdduuFRzj0hnfzw35z7iujVQMvhAAJrzRONmVWgTKkMtBZKe6HvS6zFVZKbr2sCBWXPdX_hNzYYfDzlsRD1WOm2xI5ilQIMJ7mRJC2ESPO3u1A/s320/valentine%20webbing.jpg" width="303" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">And here are the finished quilts. Today, I cleaned behind my cutting table. My scrap basket is overflowing. That despite just using up a lot of it in my 9 patch wonder. Today I sorted through my patterns and filled a plastic shopping bag to donate to the guild's quilt show in March. I have been slowly going through my pile of magazines. My how much we accumulate over the years. </p><p>In addition, I have been sorting a few UFO's and trying to get them moving along to a finish. </p><p>I added the borders to this quilt top. I had made the blocks 2 years ago from small packets of fabric and instructions from a quilt store at 2 dollars a block. I had found them at a rummage table of a quilt show. I purchased the setting blocks and borders to go with them. I love the reproduction colors. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgh-sWgLSdsSp3IuL0i8NCef3N79GyTPW4IKd71J-WuAc74MeLSze0nraIf6yGS5jKuv_-uL3D_pcEZIaFTeLRm_9FOuIKucqaYYBxy9yEiB_WOFjGucTPMSTfJVBtMWsmIPlYnDIqfeoGJbpnPEzF-XYseWdxIWfCFB7LSZdK4I2IoWasb0XQh9Rv-lA/s3000/sampler%20mini.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3000" data-original-width="3000" height="362" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgh-sWgLSdsSp3IuL0i8NCef3N79GyTPW4IKd71J-WuAc74MeLSze0nraIf6yGS5jKuv_-uL3D_pcEZIaFTeLRm_9FOuIKucqaYYBxy9yEiB_WOFjGucTPMSTfJVBtMWsmIPlYnDIqfeoGJbpnPEzF-XYseWdxIWfCFB7LSZdK4I2IoWasb0XQh9Rv-lA/w362-h362/sampler%20mini.jpg" width="362" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Now to assemble the layers and quilt it. So I dropped it off at my long armer. And at the same time, I picked up the 2 quilts which had been finished. It was delayed several times due to health issues on her end, my trip to Louisiana and then my long lasting cold. But here is the first binding finish. </p><p>So I have been sewing like crazy trying to get the binding on. My big finish is the Sewcialites Christmas. This was a block of the week by Fat Quarter Shop, a free pattern which I made in 9 inch blocks. I enjoy doing these kind of projects and have 2 still needed to be put together. The setting is also a design from them, although I don't know if it was for this series or a previous one. It is a slight variation of theirs. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMgqoWP2ZmINm4BqZCGmk39LbHRj4t2Gknr1-ec7tzWQkZWkk2eUNzPdRqSu8OFdk9pBjyc4gwbPxAGLm67GLRiX4qFORFq_ZFKo4RO4EMT9SdMdKgJzedEOmpGb_28Ow9QPktRpwYz4tqg-Rkyj0D6iU5gom5QAa_B836DYy6qhSEVu3_2ZI2NawHZA/s3002/Christmas%20full%20quilt.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2805" data-original-width="3002" height="360" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMgqoWP2ZmINm4BqZCGmk39LbHRj4t2Gknr1-ec7tzWQkZWkk2eUNzPdRqSu8OFdk9pBjyc4gwbPxAGLm67GLRiX4qFORFq_ZFKo4RO4EMT9SdMdKgJzedEOmpGb_28Ow9QPktRpwYz4tqg-Rkyj0D6iU5gom5QAa_B836DYy6qhSEVu3_2ZI2NawHZA/w385-h360/Christmas%20full%20quilt.jpg" width="385" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Center blocks up close</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgt2PyveaWWRcb_k6QxZ1N_IAz5ZTFLZINC_FhvHnPFtulmLoc3sNlksH6dEwpAisZ-F2tFtMZWaU_sWIVSA-pPOIUQ_QxMjQfr4l13MgbKeh_SQE06z6Rfvt4euMuip5ZBHH18kOuSYJXgg1dN180obIXwB1OMFzpwbzm4yA8EwZcmzpEpVCb_kQ0Jlg/s2051/Christmas%20center.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2019" data-original-width="2051" height="381" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgt2PyveaWWRcb_k6QxZ1N_IAz5ZTFLZINC_FhvHnPFtulmLoc3sNlksH6dEwpAisZ-F2tFtMZWaU_sWIVSA-pPOIUQ_QxMjQfr4l13MgbKeh_SQE06z6Rfvt4euMuip5ZBHH18kOuSYJXgg1dN180obIXwB1OMFzpwbzm4yA8EwZcmzpEpVCb_kQ0Jlg/w387-h381/Christmas%20center.jpg" width="387" /></a></div><p>This is a large quilt ending up at 100 inches squared. And I can breathe without the stuffiness in my nasal passages. There are still some residual effects, but such a welcome difference. </p><p>So I am trying to get back to my New Year's goals. </p><p>Great News!!!!!! I have finished my 9 Patch Pretties! All borders are on and all the papers are removed. </p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXrI9h7268mwAv-D4EHXc9qJ5MBBzMyVgAt9yA8G3HQ9GVawUmjXjOoOXSsZJiH2V4uYrj_ECPbbtpIUFgL11x7spvprujxVQm3bispcldYXdFXKxY0KJZNbQVaU-zvbVd0YwHE8QWJ37oOzfGv4aawKu8vp1gLPyiZXyOXfeTgteDq0mJKYrE6jnfrQ/s3782/9%20patch%20Da.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3782" data-original-width="3000" height="427" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiXrI9h7268mwAv-D4EHXc9qJ5MBBzMyVgAt9yA8G3HQ9GVawUmjXjOoOXSsZJiH2V4uYrj_ECPbbtpIUFgL11x7spvprujxVQm3bispcldYXdFXKxY0KJZNbQVaU-zvbVd0YwHE8QWJ37oOzfGv4aawKu8vp1gLPyiZXyOXfeTgteDq0mJKYrE6jnfrQ/w339-h427/9%20patch%20Da.jpg" width="339" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdij9WpdYuY2CXmRb2jNI6N8-FWYL_luL705q3gnt5ULrA8ma06DkDUJ8g86SuuV5Iq3JyYUnK4v820UWuvfgbyfTQwSmTnm_Rup7wo9VeJ7vC1Qvb_hK8qPhvqgO7LqEhss6btQsl97iIY1iwO-yj0x34paznMY8s8cTNXJZbRfwDBEBpSWWAVgaeZw/s3430/9%20patch%20Db.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2459" data-original-width="3430" height="229" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdij9WpdYuY2CXmRb2jNI6N8-FWYL_luL705q3gnt5ULrA8ma06DkDUJ8g86SuuV5Iq3JyYUnK4v820UWuvfgbyfTQwSmTnm_Rup7wo9VeJ7vC1Qvb_hK8qPhvqgO7LqEhss6btQsl97iIY1iwO-yj0x34paznMY8s8cTNXJZbRfwDBEBpSWWAVgaeZw/s320/9%20patch%20Db.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2g4XGgnK4qrs3v6uiVzQYN9zjTYBUyI31Y58F8WEXdF7Mv9Xntz7zLTGZFfyBOYLY6eM807PSlfP-_B6RHpTXkEtP5ZrOmIa3WhqHiq95IXLhSmF2CQmlk7oDO_IgA5OK3BOY9r_HjYZmBWxia82_olGxmGtt85rYsOHa8x4PgEWxAqWfH8nhVvTlsw/s4000/9%20patch%20Dc.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4000" data-original-width="3000" height="448" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2g4XGgnK4qrs3v6uiVzQYN9zjTYBUyI31Y58F8WEXdF7Mv9Xntz7zLTGZFfyBOYLY6eM807PSlfP-_B6RHpTXkEtP5ZrOmIa3WhqHiq95IXLhSmF2CQmlk7oDO_IgA5OK3BOY9r_HjYZmBWxia82_olGxmGtt85rYsOHa8x4PgEWxAqWfH8nhVvTlsw/w336-h448/9%20patch%20Dc.jpg" width="336" /></a></div><br />Hooray! It was a busy day with 2 meetings and I squeezed extra errands on top. It was so good to get so much done. My New Year's Goals were finally starting. But after a long day, I felt tired. I even pushed myself to undecorate the Christmas tree. We had done the outside and various other adornments. I sat on the couch all night, and deteriorated slowly. Even my husband noticed after he came home from his concert. </p><p>I have been sleeping, drinking lots of fluids and just doing nothing....DARN COLD. For 4 days. </p><p>Today is the first time I am actually thinking about things. So I have been going through my stack of magazines to select patterns I still want to make. And making a pile to DONATE. This is part of my decluttering...Yes!</p><p>And rethinking my ambitious goals. I think I am dropping my crazy patch cats. It just isn't speaking to me.</p><p>It is now the next week Jan 15. And we have SNOW, and more SNOW. 15 inches of it. And it is beautiful! I have never seen it stick to the woods for such a long period of time. So pretty and magical when the sun shines.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEX7NeSmYx5W-ZWiEBFdqcHsXSXZpHLGRX7jo2M8UYuEOclWfkkTLs5ABbYe2GCXakGwmvZrenzps16JZeDQmacvHLXNSI9bSx-zndHtNOS9aSdcIPyFSuVUwIU3LEKbba0XV69dE3nLp9TewWAlMFdfm_cG3UjF4GdfiqQz-Fl2qqxaJlI6kNVRHLpA/s4000/Jan%20snow%20a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4000" data-original-width="3000" height="423" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEX7NeSmYx5W-ZWiEBFdqcHsXSXZpHLGRX7jo2M8UYuEOclWfkkTLs5ABbYe2GCXakGwmvZrenzps16JZeDQmacvHLXNSI9bSx-zndHtNOS9aSdcIPyFSuVUwIU3LEKbba0XV69dE3nLp9TewWAlMFdfm_cG3UjF4GdfiqQz-Fl2qqxaJlI6kNVRHLpA/w317-h423/Jan%20snow%20a.jpg" width="317" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">We are talking 15 inches. Plus a few meetings and such. I had a very long day yesterday, but felt good about ticking things off my list. </p><p>Unfortunately, I have also come down with a doozy of a cold. It may be a couch day, although those quilt projects do beckon me. And I can't get far away from my new friend, the kleenex box.</p><p>On the sewing front, I did rejoin Stash Bee this year. I really liked the first block and made 2 only to find out I switched positions of the medium and dark blocks. So after some frogging I remade them. Now to send them off to New Zealand. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUjXYPJsF6wf00YR4Z6HgduVGTWK6GKllcESC9DhQmSUoYng_h9V0uns6-i7B_yAfhyphenhyphenfXmhDEmuCoCQVqOjBGfeqZPIWEwYMCj5ytGUKNwmkrBz4pP7YLlbpHIiGTZQV9j6U6Rb7MYJ51m7QvyTmOsswG9EFTnGBEhCTHs8Q6lpIdFxQ6quNr9h3xTAA/s4000/stash%20bee%201.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4000" data-original-width="3000" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUjXYPJsF6wf00YR4Z6HgduVGTWK6GKllcESC9DhQmSUoYng_h9V0uns6-i7B_yAfhyphenhyphenfXmhDEmuCoCQVqOjBGfeqZPIWEwYMCj5ytGUKNwmkrBz4pP7YLlbpHIiGTZQV9j6U6Rb7MYJ51m7QvyTmOsswG9EFTnGBEhCTHs8Q6lpIdFxQ6quNr9h3xTAA/s320/stash%20bee%201.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivlQJS7L1BWnrWxV3dWnLf3_S4A9bDlD1sMmGiGzCfR0skGituwDAdBuuNUmvWULxfEfMvS9cqDZPwIXKvqiw0zNgOXytPhThXv-1WoqOuR0ZjiYIpD_bHdZ7ld0iT-OTGj_z4Gz2kV4Gr92HyNseTGU9NptVnJpv1O-4YLiS4kAy0SJ85q30jC8bxOQ/s4000/Stash%20bee%201b.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4000" data-original-width="3000" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivlQJS7L1BWnrWxV3dWnLf3_S4A9bDlD1sMmGiGzCfR0skGituwDAdBuuNUmvWULxfEfMvS9cqDZPwIXKvqiw0zNgOXytPhThXv-1WoqOuR0ZjiYIpD_bHdZ7ld0iT-OTGj_z4Gz2kV4Gr92HyNseTGU9NptVnJpv1O-4YLiS4kAy0SJ85q30jC8bxOQ/s320/Stash%20bee%201b.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdwDi_4vr2nhjPKj8LNZ0PUVTrrUXMuNtmca26jHYC5Bk6H9kQqcFR-leUTkD3i7R5-Uzj9CNyTmB4T1pfqf7u6c9JKR8oWmRtjP7zbWcpaZi_VErUdY8jXrrPBXfJ38tfPzMO-zyxjfu8JDvjdr3ZIqo4ewA-m_3Qc01gr0LmaVfu4LBd7hfkd8_hEA/s4000/stash%20bee%201c.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4000" data-original-width="3000" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdwDi_4vr2nhjPKj8LNZ0PUVTrrUXMuNtmca26jHYC5Bk6H9kQqcFR-leUTkD3i7R5-Uzj9CNyTmB4T1pfqf7u6c9JKR8oWmRtjP7zbWcpaZi_VErUdY8jXrrPBXfJ38tfPzMO-zyxjfu8JDvjdr3ZIqo4ewA-m_3Qc01gr0LmaVfu4LBd7hfkd8_hEA/s320/stash%20bee%201c.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p><p>I am also pumped to finish a few WIP projects. And this year will be no different. </p><p>I ONLY have 3 new projects to get started on: </p><p>1) Corinne et Cecile Quilt Along (A French online group on facebook) Here is the announcement for the new year's theme: <a href="ttps://patchworkinspirations.fr/?p=6882&fbclid=IwAR3JS2z3O0x1WO2N7daYDLEOY5oPtwgNf7lvWe92IGuHa-f1mJ8l1xPBodM" target="_blank">Corrinne et Cecile Quilt along</a> The theme is ANIMALS. Yes! , I found a pattern to do a crazy quilt with little cats in corners. This will be for my grandson. 8 weeks of blocks, and then assembly and quilting by May 1. </p><p>I have participated in several of their quilt alongs each January : 1) stars ( in process of quilting), 2) flowers, 3) circles/curves which is still not pieced as I had started a New York Beauty, 4) 9 patch which was my first and favorite and 5) applique and piecing which is my Christmas gnome quilt I just finished from this 2022. So this will be my 6th year WOW! </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8ZgqnD3_QXH55JYIiBjqQ6r84r48Oy-mA64ilDpxOn2dziAIiGcwIsJUn_3dSVOk296KYdAaF2Q4ofi8McLK3syrrEMitGCoRxE0G3G8pKjQzeUfg4iBVbg9wU1o7gFquqdWykOLR25QEx5BfJzNT2krvlUYok4jC7uHoopryi9WxlWD-40CT1_6xpw/s1315/crazy%20quilt%20cat%20pattern.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1315" data-original-width="1078" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8ZgqnD3_QXH55JYIiBjqQ6r84r48Oy-mA64ilDpxOn2dziAIiGcwIsJUn_3dSVOk296KYdAaF2Q4ofi8McLK3syrrEMitGCoRxE0G3G8pKjQzeUfg4iBVbg9wU1o7gFquqdWykOLR25QEx5BfJzNT2krvlUYok4jC7uHoopryi9WxlWD-40CT1_6xpw/s320/crazy%20quilt%20cat%20pattern.jpg" width="262" /></a></div><p>2) Fatcat Designs of a beautiful filigree kind of applique. I just got the pattern and am still choosing colors. A friend of mine was working on it at retreat, and I fell in love with it. It is a free pattern called Southern Gentlemen. Email Sindy at <a href="mailto:sindy@fatcatpatterns.com">sindy@fatcatpatterns.com</a> if you are interested in the pattern. There is also a closed group on facebook to see the incredible different colors and blocks. </p><p>I bought a gorgeous pale blue background for it and need to assemble some batiks to go with it. </p><p>This is a photo of block 1 in black and white</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiu0YRzjdJ6rAd0Mi3mpkzTnB5NyA3zuI06HZmgBooX72ahyphenhyphen-0faSwLQsXijExBd4vHhgzwNHOsEBDmcXUSaJZ3rakqT3M07oSa9mnNhj5UMG7gI3WwbFKipdOtG9hZWIopE7MA40dd0ZBMBoH9iMsql3SJSXgJakAQd2b0AvUVIfE6rZsSjWt05RqqOg/s3295/Southern%20gentlemen%20block%201.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3295" data-original-width="2652" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiu0YRzjdJ6rAd0Mi3mpkzTnB5NyA3zuI06HZmgBooX72ahyphenhyphen-0faSwLQsXijExBd4vHhgzwNHOsEBDmcXUSaJZ3rakqT3M07oSa9mnNhj5UMG7gI3WwbFKipdOtG9hZWIopE7MA40dd0ZBMBoH9iMsql3SJSXgJakAQd2b0AvUVIfE6rZsSjWt05RqqOg/s320/Southern%20gentlemen%20block%201.jpg" width="258" /></a></div><p>3) And I fell in love with Crinkly Quilts latest quilt which is version of a wedding ring quilt that I saw on instagram. She is hosting a sew along and I have already received her pattern and templates. I had a 3 yard quilt backing that did not match a recent quilt just sitting. So I found some grunge bright fabrics to add to it. </p><p>There is a scrappy version that I will be making from THESE fabric:</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEichR7Zuq1y_BKwEywp6fzvdx3WbjmJXrWrtROWulv3o445h8CdXQm8auYGaICXFydhxyTOwUibzGZww1jHsul4vTOzZOr88wwhh5YxisifQIKBNBhgJZygT-xnNHxq-_lGutKlxwYsCz7u1rvS81ihI2GOCoUYCPtl1xR6nOWDbFCTY2ZbzqrT70W-TQ/s4000/crinkly%20wedding%20pattern.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4000" data-original-width="3000" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEichR7Zuq1y_BKwEywp6fzvdx3WbjmJXrWrtROWulv3o445h8CdXQm8auYGaICXFydhxyTOwUibzGZww1jHsul4vTOzZOr88wwhh5YxisifQIKBNBhgJZygT-xnNHxq-_lGutKlxwYsCz7u1rvS81ihI2GOCoUYCPtl1xR6nOWDbFCTY2ZbzqrT70W-TQ/s320/crinkly%20wedding%20pattern.jpg" width="240" /> </a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWlipFwqiwvd9lW5SSRra-WbFPZEQSTei0NsWJ842kyDVfMW8UM6i43oNBMrv9OuvMlTJRMHmwBe0KjUVbPsuyjZvVRkOrP445iOO-Lc_lvBXWTR0zRVaroaUO9kYR7SI6BCy589Oy_Oom6atxWTl0IxbsmGLDCUidEwdhhLj7c7-kWhg0LkR5kj6dig/s4000/crinkly%20wedding%20fabrics.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4000" data-original-width="3000" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWlipFwqiwvd9lW5SSRra-WbFPZEQSTei0NsWJ842kyDVfMW8UM6i43oNBMrv9OuvMlTJRMHmwBe0KjUVbPsuyjZvVRkOrP445iOO-Lc_lvBXWTR0zRVaroaUO9kYR7SI6BCy589Oy_Oom6atxWTl0IxbsmGLDCUidEwdhhLj7c7-kWhg0LkR5kj6dig/s320/crinkly%20wedding%20fabrics.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><p>And I really want to take a cue from Maggie Fellows at <a href="https://makingalather.blogspot.com/">Making a Lather</a> who this year made of goal of only working on UFOs and picked 5 each month to work on a little at a time. Both are miles and miles away. And both have been due to health issues. </p><p>In Canada my "stepfather" had a breathing issue and COPD that turned into needing a pacemaker and 4 months rehabilitation. Unable to gain his independence back, he then chose to go to a nursing home this fall. It is so difficult to watch and understand the process. And then we moved Mom to be nearer to us in the US. </p><p>Secondly, my daughter in law received a double transplant of kidney and pancreas Memorial Day weekend. And that didn't go well. Pancreas removed after week and then after months of very minimal improvement, her body began to reject the kidney this fall. I did take care of the boys for June and July. We travel to see them this weekend.</p><p>Family is everything, and their issues impact us even when we don't travel. But we love them no matter what. A simple Thanksgiving for 2. Another round in the hospital for my daughter in law rejecting her kidney transplant. Two fractures for my Mom : hip and arm from falling out of bed. No surgery. But painful and now immobile. No trips for me , but lots of prayers and conversations across the miles.</p><p>I don't know what normal is anymore. But I do know that we are going to Louisiana after Christmas to see the boys and that is wonderful. </p><p>So this month is my 7th year blog-iversary. I still enjoy keeping track of my sewing and projects and getting positives from other quilters/friends over the miles. </p><p>Onto better things: I just returned from my winter quilt retreat with some needed rest and relaxation and focused time on quilting with friends.</p><p>Projects I was able to accomplish. </p><p>This was started for a Quilt along with Corrine and Cecile in January. But I changed my mind and only included 6 of the 8 gnomes. Each is appliqued and hand embroidered. This is destined for my daughter in law. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIx2-p5qI1AMl-VUq3mCGWg4oW3jkqW4qWyWhJXoMU5C9OzxMwsJwqFNbkQsEcRf0QBAoCuebm7nU8mjKcRhkANXvbtuRuEFQeCQTsxm_0OsTC8LwvOmWRW-GAlmu5oyHNPtJem4kychmtRlhrvrueDoxSf4vnXF0KDeH1sSXpKLrh7tej-P7RRpe3wg/s3283/gnome%20tree.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3283" data-original-width="3000" height="514" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIx2-p5qI1AMl-VUq3mCGWg4oW3jkqW4qWyWhJXoMU5C9OzxMwsJwqFNbkQsEcRf0QBAoCuebm7nU8mjKcRhkANXvbtuRuEFQeCQTsxm_0OsTC8LwvOmWRW-GAlmu5oyHNPtJem4kychmtRlhrvrueDoxSf4vnXF0KDeH1sSXpKLrh7tej-P7RRpe3wg/w469-h514/gnome%20tree.jpg" width="469" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This is my Moda Blockheads 5 fall session of blocks. After a while gathering my thoughts and catching up on news and such, I got into a mood to clean. And it feels good to do those things that I have put off for some time. So each day I have made a list to accomplish a few tasks. Some are easy tasks like baking cookies; others are not so much fun like washing windows that I never got around to this summer. But all in all, things are getting accomplished. And it keeps inspiring me to do a little more. </p><p>I wish I could say I have been on the sewing train to finish up a few of those oh, so close projects. </p><p>I did make a door hanger for Mom for Christmas for her new place. And I hope to do a monthly one as the calendar progresses. 12 by 23 inches I think in my stash fabrics. Buttons and hanging ribbon to be attached.</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidrG8kzcqMUB59Xo76Z7HtfifQkqqDTd41OpzVIBEk2GCplsAkIt94zvICSFW4_p5iSL5b9rajn3cTuRtjJ-IVuP7i5qdnycMHQWkEC5oo5yAnqc19SoLlddUvgno4bEEC8PXLp2uwgCPgldzV3TgQ6WLxpizc0nYRGutlaY8nGxX1S63fEJ5YpdSMMg/s3599/Xmas%20tree%20Mom.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3599" data-original-width="2316" height="500" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidrG8kzcqMUB59Xo76Z7HtfifQkqqDTd41OpzVIBEk2GCplsAkIt94zvICSFW4_p5iSL5b9rajn3cTuRtjJ-IVuP7i5qdnycMHQWkEC5oo5yAnqc19SoLlddUvgno4bEEC8PXLp2uwgCPgldzV3TgQ6WLxpizc0nYRGutlaY8nGxX1S63fEJ5YpdSMMg/w321-h500/Xmas%20tree%20Mom.jpg" width="321" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p><br /></p><p>This is a new pattern I found at Quilts Plus in Lebanon, Indiana.
