Thanks for all your kind words. My sister's surgery went well and she is recovering the best she can. I leave NEXT Monday for assisting her. The sister in law has been holding on, doing ok and has moved from hospice to have her final days at home.
So winter has taken hold of me. We have been lucky enough to have sun and lots of birds in the backyard. But I dislike hate this cold forlorn weather between seasons without any new growth and temperatures in the 40s. Ugh. My mood is affected; yucky me. I should not complain; I am lucky for my life.
Anyway to happier, more fun things, I finished a baby quilt for my daughter to give to her hopefully future sister and brother in law. It is not your typical baby quilt; I was given a photo of a crochet blanket for inspiration. I really would have done any color or theme. And I found some Bonnie Sullivan flannels that were perfect for it and the shop owner showed me an easy pattern resembling it.
I love the center pieced HST star block, so cool! The baby quilt looks very nice, happy stitching!
ReplyDeletemoods can be affected so much from lack of sun and winter temperatures you will be glad to see your sister I'm sure - sorry about the sister in law and wish her peaceful last days with family.
ReplyDeleteYou can't beat the traditional style of crocheted ripple afghan using any combination of colors in my opinion. Love the quilt as well. Stay busy and stitch on. I understand what you mean about the mood. That's one reason we enjoy leaving Ohio in the winter, it's so gray and blah it really takes you down. The last several years we've gone to South Carolina for the winter, even if not super warm, the sun is out most days and flowers are blooming. What a difference in one's mood.
ReplyDeleteLove the embroidered bookmarks. Your blockhead star is looking great.
ReplyDeleteI definitely think late winter weather can affect our mood - especially when there are family worries in the mix. Sending you positive thoughts! The baby quilt looks perfect and that star is amazing. So many little triangles!
ReplyDeleteThe bookmarks remind me of a grown-up version of the sewing cards we had as children. The zigzag quilt is lively. And, oh, the triangle/star block is wonderful. The spring weather has certainly bounced up and down.
