Foxy finish

It is DONE! The quilting shows up much better here than in the last post.

I trimmed up the batting , added the binding and hand sewed it.

I like the stripe that complimented the back which is a colorful woods scene with lovely greens, teals and foxes.

Hooray. This will be sent off in the mail Thursday after I show it off at guild. It is for my niece who was two weeks old when I got married many moons ago.
I was also able to get a lot of embroidery done. About halfway...

Foxes and Fanta

Hooray! I have quilted the baby foxes. I used the ideas online to have the quilting resemble trees having a few knot holes throughout.

Now to bind it. I have a lovely stripe that coordinates with both sides.

This is the lovely back.  I purchased 1 yard which is normally sufficient for a baby quilt.  But the print is directional and looked better vertical. Hence the extra shot cotton above and below.

I don't like the shot cotton for piecing. It was too stretchy.  I should have starched or used Best Press prior to cutting.
.

Also completed are two blocks for my Stash Bee hive. The pattern is Wanta Fanta. The windmill looking block is paper pieced in four sections

Foxes and blocks

Still working on my blockheads: 5 done of what I had remaining and 4 more to go for the whole 48 week set plus substitutions for the applique blocks.
Remember these are only 6 inch blocks.

This one went together well.  I was surprised when I put the 4 blocks together.  I didn't have lots of intersections to deal with . These ae 3/4 inch half square triangles. This is number 44 by Betsy Chutchian.

This is number 48  by Lisa Bongean. I got my geese with the 2 colors flipped. But at this point, I don't care.

Lastly, I finally got this foxy baby quilt together.  I had extra sashing between the foxes that had to be removed.  Sometimes, I frustrate myself.

Let's get this summer started!

It is almost half way through the year. And I have hardly even touched my UFO list.  UGH!

SO  I am really setting goals for this summer.

A short project is to assemble my 4 blocks for the row by row.  Easy, peasy... just 5 sashing strips and one row .

First up is to assemble my one grandson's quilt.  I have the fabric for sashing. Just do it.

Then there is the foxy baby quilt.  Shouldn't be too hard. Smaller projects.

And then I really need to get my 30s quilt done with the quasi log cabin hearts.
The vertical rows of hearts are done:  5 rows of 10 blocks each.  And I have many strips assembled to put in rows between them. Now for the finish.  I would love to take this to my mom in July to replace a quilt I made for her in the 80s. It was my first bed size quilt done in the blues and mauves of the time.

Fox baby quilt

As I am already making a Christmas tree skirt for one niece, I asked if the other one, her sister, wanted a baby quilt ( precious little one due mid September).

She, of course, said yes and was thrilled with all the fox options I found for her theme. She selected the Elizabeth Hartman pattern.Link here.

So I was bored with the tree skirt and started the blocks for this one.
Here are 2 versions. One with green foxes. One only with orange/rust ones. What do you think?

Also made this Stash Bee block:

It was nice to be sewing again.
