It was my turn to host a small gathering at my house, so I ( with expertise help from my dear husband) have cleaned and organized. I always feel so bad, because my sewing is scattered all the open room next to the kitchen. It makes me feel guilty.
Spring is arriving slowly and very gradually in Wisconsin. I have not seen the robins, but others have. And on our drive, I definitely could tell the willow trees have yellowing branches.
And on the way to Madison to see the international fair of ethnic dancing, music and crafts, my dear husband and I stopped at Sun Prairie for a fabric at J J's Stitches. And ended up getting fabric for a baby quilt gift and an applique quilt. So excited...
On Friday, I finally felt like sewing and created a door quilt for my mom for Easter. All that is left is the binding, eyes for the chick and a few details.
Then I saw a real simple small quilt and started cutting 1 and 1/2 inch strips. Fun to create!
I just need to embroider a winding border and add some tiny flower buttons. Well and quilt it, of course.
Sometimes just sitting and playing with fabric is very satisfying, happy stitching!
ReplyDeleteDon't feel guilty about your sewing scattered around! I try limiting it to the dining room (my sewing room!), but that doesn't always work out! lol Adorable Easter quilt! Cute scrappy quilt, and blocks too.
ReplyDeleteI went to that show once when visiting my daughter when she lived in Madison - but they moved some time ago and she lives a lot closer to me - I miss the quilt shops up there though and liked JJ's - is Millhouse Quilts still in business too? I heard they kind of changed after they started to sell sewing machines and not for the better from what I heard. I think the Madison quilt show was very nice and a large show too.
ReplyDeleteSuch sweet Spring projects! I love those 16 patches - it will be fun to see what you're planning for them.
ReplyDeleteThe illusion of transparency between chick and egg--so clever. And, yes, those rabbit holes . . .
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute door quilt for you mom! It will bring a smile to her and her friends for sure. Love the little mini you are making and oh yes, watch out for rabbit holes! Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.

Your spring quilt is darling. I love those little eggs and chick. You've really hit a great little quilt. Good for you working with the 1.5" squares. I'm looking forward to seeing the embroidery too.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the Easter Quilt, very cute. You don't need to feel guilty about your sewing being about, it just shows how creative and busy you are. Come on spring.
